Over 40,000 soccer fans filled Soldier Field to watch Barcelona open their 2008 U.S. tour with style on Aug 3. Barcelona defeated Chivas in a friendly match with a final score of 5-2, in their first of two games in the U.S.
Chivas’ defenders were no match for Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto'o, who scored twice in the second half. Xavi Hernández, Alexander Hleb and Martín Cáceres also added to Barcelona’s arsenal. Jesus Padilla and Javier Hernandez’ goals were not enough to give the predominantly Chivas filled stadium the victory.

May Day March 2007
A crowd of about 150,000 came out to participate in the May 1
immigration demonstration, which weaved through downtown
and ended at Grant Park, where a massive rally was held.
Organizer Jorge Mújica was pleased with the numbers: “I think
that this year’s march was everything we expected and sends a
very strong message to Washington. There needs to be some
kind of immigration reform. If they don’t do it this year, next
year there will be a half a million more.”
